Well, I'm posting, but what the heck! :)
The way I've gone about hooking up speakers to my //gs is as follows:
1. Go to Radio Shack.
2. Buy their cheapest amplifier you can (about $30.00).
3. Put RCA jacks on the speaker wires.
4. Get an adaptor to go from a mini-jack to RCA.
5. Get an adaptor which will split the signal from a single RCA
line to two RCA lines (ie: A "Y" cable).
6. Plug mini-jack into the back of the //gs.
7. Plug the "Y" cable into the mini-jack coverter cable.
8. Plug the "Y" cable into the amp.
9. Plug the speakers into the amp.
10. Set the amp to play stereo.
11. Sit back and enjoy the music. :)

As an alternative, if you have a stereo with a microphone
plug, you can simply get a mini-jack to standard and plug
the //gs directly into the stereo. :)
