Yes, the internal SCSI cable is just a 50 wire ribbon cable. In a typical
external hard drive case, the ribbon cable has 2 50 pin "Centronics-type"
connectors attached to the ends of the ribbon. These connectors are what
you see on the back of the case. The resulting "loop" of ribbon cable on
the inside of the case has a 50 pin connector clamped to the ribbon at
the midway point. This connector attaches to the back of the drive
mechanism.
So, if you want 2 devices in one case and want to use the same ribbon
cable you just need to add another 50 pin "drive" connector to the ribbon.
I made one of these for an old case I used to have and it worked fine.
Just make sure there is enough ribbon cable to reach all the devices in
the case.
