I have a DuoDisk hanging off of my GS...whether it's plugged in
directly to the motherboard or through a 3.5" drive, it works like a
charm. It's my understanding, though, that some earlier DuoDisks need
a hardware mod to work properly with a GS.

As for plugging it into a IIe...you'll need to get a controller first.
A UniDisk/DuoDisk controller would work directly, or you could
probably make an adapter to use a Disk II controller. (Don't ask me
for my DuoDisk controller...I sold it a few months ago since the
drives work fine off of the GS's built-in controller.)
