Well, I hate to say this, and I will probably get flamed from here to hell
and back for it, but who cares ...

I do not think the Apple // is a wise investment. A cheapo Mac (like
a used Performa 400) would probably be better ... because of the higher
resolution it offers, and because of the better sound it offers ... which
means that edu soft can take advantage of that and be so much more fun.
  When I look at Kathie's Farm or Wales or whatever and think about the
same thing on a //c+ ... or when I look at kids having fun with
KidPix, I come to the conclusion that using a // unnecessarily limits
the fun the kids can have with the machine.
