IIc comm. software woes

The terminal program I have for my IIc (I think it's ProTerm), refuses
to proceed past the setup menus until I run the program off of a "backup
disk". I made a copy of the program onto another disk and ran the program
from that disk and I got the same message. What will I need to do to
convince the program that it is residing on a backup copy so I can
proceed?
