Try doing a shift boot (booting with all inits and cdevs etc off) and running
your terminal program. I'll bet one of your inits etc. is causing a problem,
(two that come to mind are Twiglight and Keynotifier vs 1.0). Keynotifier has
been fixed and I believe Twilight is or has been fixed recently.
