Re: //e question
Glenn,
You can plug any kind of printer into an Apple //e. It is only a
matter of getting the right printer card for the computer. If you get
a parallel printer, then you need a parallel printer card. If you get
a serial printer - a serial card. With the various LaserWriters there
are usually serial interfaces which can be used with them.
So what kind of interface card should you use? Well, there is the
Apple Super Serial Card, Orange Grappler (which is fairly nice), and
I believe Applied Engineering still carries their serial printer card.
The rule of thumb here is: Check out what the printer needs before
you look into what the Apple needs. This is because if you get a printer
which will only work with system XYZ, then you will not be able to make
it work with the Apple. But if the printer uses a standard serial
interface or a standard parallel interface, then you should be ok.
