Maybe some will call this denial but I dispute the recent posting that the
Apple II is DEAD. I turned mine on this morning and it still works. I expect
it will still work when I get home this evening. True, Apple Inc. may be on
the verge of dying, or maybe they'll just change their name to Phoenix and
rise from the ashes. Since 1977 there have been several computer systems
on the market which now are no longer manufactured but the systems can still
be found, in use, by dedicated users. CP/M clubs still abound in some cities
but there aren't any major manufacturers of CP/M machines still out there. If
we, as a group, focus on the negatives of having to "go it on our own" then
soon the Apple II may die. But in the meantime, I plan to keep using my
machine for what I bought it for -- enjoyment and education.
