I helped a school set up a Digicard network with //e's, GS and Macscs. I
was told that it would not handle a networked modem. That is, you
wouldn't be able to use the modem from any station on the network. I
think that's a fairly dicey proposition even on higher-powered networks
like AppleShare.
In order for that to work it seems like there would have to be a special
card installed in each machine (like the workstation cards that connect
to the Digicard's Shared Resource Controller) so they could physically
connect to the modem. It would be analogous to controlling a 5.25" disk
drive on one //e from another //e.
