apple iic + printer -- a query

I'm trying to find a printer for the apple iic which is
resident in an elementary school.  I am completely ignorant
about any apple ii computers, so if you could answer these
questions, I would much appreciate it.

1.  Does the apple iic have a backplane?  If so, is it compatible
    with all the other apple ii backplanes?

2.  Does anyone have any experience interfacing the Grappler+ graphics/printer
    card (along with an EPSON printer) with the apple iic?  If so, was it
    successful?

3.  Does the imagewriter work with the apple iic?
