Actually, that's 65535 HP. During game play it only shows 4 digits, but
any value greater than 9999 is shown as 9999.

This reminds me. I purchased The Bard's Tale (1) from a computer store
about a year ago. GS version. It was labeled by the store as Bard's
Tale III, but I was interested anyway. Packaging was water damaged, but
it appeared to boot okay on their GS system -- no warranty for it.

Anyway, when I got it home I found that it worked fine up until you
wanted to go and actually _play_ the game. Whereupon the animation
would freeze but the music continue to play. Scanning the disk with
Copy II Plus revealed a bad block on the disk.

So what I'm looking for is someone who can send me 512 bytes from the
program to restore this one to proper working order. I have all the
documentation (Manual, quickie instructions, registration card, small ad
for cluebooks, and original disk) and will give chapter and verse to any
questioners, or if you are in Lincoln, NE, see the material in question
in person.

Just checked the disk and found 3 bad blocks in 3 files: $203 in
CHANT.P, $37C in DUNGWALL2, and $31A in BARD.ANIM.P. The last one
didn't show up on a disk scan, only on a file scan. I also don't trust
$306 (disk scan paused there for a moment).
