You need to replace 4 chips.  The CPU, the Video ROM, and I can't remember
the other 2, but I'm sure somebody else does :)  Apple Dealers used to sell
a //e enhancement kit for around $70 (a ripoff IMO) that contained the 4
chips.  I know that the 6502 CPU needs to be upgraded to a 65c02, and by
replacing the video ROM, you get groovy mousetext.  All the chips that
need to be replaced should be socketed, so it shouldn't be a problem to
replace them.
