Spectrum etc. etc.
Ladies and gentlemen,
Here's a message from Seven Hills. Maybe you're interested in it.

I did not mean to imply that The Manager was the only system that
multitasks.
Of course GNO multitasks! {However, I was not aware that it multitasks
desktop applications...does it now?}
The question had to do with multitasking with Spectrum, and my response
is
that we have only tested Spectrum with The Manager so we do not know
whether
Spectrum works with GNO/SwitchIt/etc.. I even said that we have NOT
intentionally done anything to make it NOT work with those systems! But
we
haven't tested them, nor have we included any special support for them
like
we have for The Manager.
And I did not mean to imply that The Manager v1.0 would not multitask!
Version 1.0 _does_ multitask fine for a variety of software. But
Spectrum is
time- and interrupt-sensitive, and TMv1.0 just is not up to the speed
that
_SPECTRUM_ requires.
In addition, most Spectrum displays write direct to the screen for
speed.
Under TMv1.0 they would write all over other windows, but with TMv1.1
Spectrum gets the message that it is being switched out so it knows to
activate a "Manager-aware" screen display.
So that is why _SPECTRUM_ is requiring The Manager version 1.1 (which is
in
beta testing but unfortunately will NOT be shipping before Spectrum
does).
I wish I had direct access to Internet so I could respond directly...it
seems
like you guys are constantly _looking_ for reasons to go flaming on
Seven
Hills. We're not out to get Jawaid or anyone. If you prefer his
products
then support him, if you prefer ours then support us. Hell, some people
like
and use both!
The IIGS market is too small for this crappy attitude.
Thanks,
