This here comes directly from Seven Hills:

a) Does Spectrum support VT100 mode while multitasking?
It supports VT100, but not while multi-tasking (VT100 is done on the 80
column text screen; multi-tasking demands using a special generic
display on
the SHR screen; future versions will probably provide options so you
will be
able to multitask VT100 and other custom displays).

b) Does Spectrum support macros like ProTerm?
Better--it supports a full scripting language that can do almost
anything you
can imagine.

c) Does Spectrum support ANSI in a desktop environment?
Yes.

d) Is Spectrum compatible with GNO and SI?
Probably so, but not tested.  We haven't done anything to intentionally
break
it under those systems.  But the only system that multi-tasks is The
Manager
(but it requires TMv1.1 which isn't available yet).
