Sure. SLIP is a full TCP/IP connection, that means: You can use local
front-ends for services like ftp, irc, telnet and the like. You can
start X programs on the machine you're logged into and have them
displayed on your screen. Etc.

Of course, on the GS, the possibilities will be severely limited. And
even though I have a Sun sitting here, I use a uucp-poll/interactive
IP thing instead of a true SLIP/PPP connection.
