5.25 drives that work w/ the IIe emulator

I just bought 3 Apple IIe emulator cards from Pre Owned Electronics.
They work fine with my platinum Apple 5.25 drive, but they don't work
with the aftermarket drive or the old white Apple IIc drive I have.
 
I spoke to someone at Alltech Electronics and he told me the only
drive they can be sure of working with the cards is Apple's platinum
drive.  He said Apple started modifying the cards so they only work
with Apple's drives.
 
Does anyone know which 5.25 drives the IIe emulator works with?
