3.5 Drives

Help,

I work as a teacher and I have a GS in my office.  Today the 3.5 drives
will not work on it (or maybe it is the slot).  With the hard drive, there
are no 3.5 disk icons showing up so I can not add anything to the hard
drive (the startup slot is set to slot 7).  

If I go into the control panel and change startup to slot 5, I get the
message to check startup device.  

I can insert and eject disks in both of these drives with the eject button.
 The light will not come on these drives no will they "whirr" as they
usually do when the drive is running.

I have tried both 3.5 disk drives as the first drive on the daisy chain,
and have also just plugged one in at a time. 

The last time (Thursday October 30) that I used these, they were fine.  As
far as I know no one has used my computer since then.
