    Filetype preservation isn't the main issue though.  File *names*
are.  Something on UNIX called "shadowwrite-1.33.shk" will probably be
truncated to "shadowwrite.1.3" in ProDOS.  In this case, not only do you
lose the version number, you lose the extension.  Yes, GSHK/ShrinkIt/
yankit can ignore filetypes, but the filename loses meaning.  If you add
a Binary II header, when you download it to your Apple II, the file will
magically be renamed "SW1.33.shk" on your drive.

    Binary II is just a header, not an archive format.  It doesn't add
very much to a file.  128 bytes?  256 bytes?  Not over a single disk
block, in any case.
