Easy Access problem

I'm posting this in case there are other people too-new-to-IIgs-to-
have-heard-of this particular problem.

I got ORCA/Pascal and tried it out, starting with the first example in
the manual. It worked but - to my considerable surprise - the cursor,
when moved into the edit window, acted like a big eraser and blanked
out all the text it moved over! Clicking the mouse restored the text,
but it was essentially impossible to do any editing.

At the next Applequerque club meeting I mentioned this to some not-so-
new-to-IIgs members and they said, Oh yeah, you gotta get rid of that
new 6.0.1 "Easy Access" thing - it's got a known bug.

Well, I hadn't heard of this bug and I had not used that Easy Access
thing, but I remembered installing it. So I went home and ran the
Installer from System 6.0.1 and removed it. I restarted the computer,
then started up ORCA/Pascal. No change. The cursor was still an eraser.

Later I remembered something I read here on the net and tried booting
with the shift key held down (a technique described in the 6.0.1 file
"Shortcuts" which I should have read more carefully) so as to not load
desk accessories. Then I went to System.Setup and clicked on the icon of
CloseView and made it inactive. Then I went to Desk.Accs and clicked on
the Video Keyboard and made it inactive. Then I restarted and loaded up
ORCA/Pascal. It worked fine! No more eraser cursor!

I have other stuff such as Pointless, ShadowWrite and Typeless but if
they are causing any problems I don't know about them yet. I guess I can
live without the Video Keyboard, Easy Access and CloseView.

So - one more small step toward getting this IIgs to work for me.
