That's absolutely correct -- when you insert a new disk, the Finder
reads that disk's icons directory and starts using the new icons. If
there are icons in that dirfor a type of file that already has an
icon, the new icon is used instead (unless an older icon exists that
has a filename specifier).
In other words, the most-recently loaded, most-specifically matchinc
icon is used.
