What printer for Apple //+

I got several confusing responses when I posted that I was looking for a
printer for an Apple //+.  (Actually I just need some questions answered.)
I am not familiar with and Apple //+ but I am familiar with the macintosh
line.  Do the printers work the same way ?  Do I have to buy a printer
made for the Apple?  Or does it work like an Intel box where any old
serial/prallel printer will work?  Or will any ol' printer work with
some conversion box between the computer and the printer?  Also what
kind of connection is on the back of the computer?  MiniDIN8? DB25?
