Sick //gs update

First of all, my thanks to everyone who replied (and it's been less than 24
hrs)!

I took Jawaid's advice & found my original CPU & plugged it back in.
The result? Everything seems fine for now :), and I may not have to get a
new hard drive after all :) :) :), but I will need a new accelerator :( I'd
like one which does at least 10 MHz-- any suggestions?), and a strange thing
happened after I replaced the '816:

Using the Finder I copied my system disk into /RAM5 & rebooted (to /RAM5),
but the sliding apple was there again... So, I used Installer & tried
again, to no avail. Then I thought, well, if I can at least LAUNCH an
application from /RAM5, I'll live with it for now. So I fired up the Finder
again, and this time, when it tried to mount the RAM disk, it told me that
the device .DEV2 was Pascal-formatted. So I installed the Pascal FST on my
system disk & rebooted. What happened? It said that it couldn't recognize
.DEV2 with the FST's I had installed (Eject/Initialize). So I Initialized,
copied the system disk into RAM, and, whaddya know? I could boot from /RAM5!

So far, so good, but does anyone know why that might have happened? Also,
am I going to have to manually format /RAM5 every time I turn on my
computer? (Of course, if my HD works, I won't need to boot from RAM any
more, but I'd like my computer to be fully functional regardless.)

Once again, thanks everyone!
