    I think that's a non-issue these days.  Practically every file on
comp.binaries.apple2 and on the Apple II FTP sites is either in ShrinkIt
or Binscii format.  Who in their right mind would use gzip or lharc for
an Apple II file?  A three-letter extension on a filename tells you
right away how to unpack the file, and it doesn't take up any disk
space.  A separate text file is more difficult to maintain, takes up
room and you have to download and read the file.
