Sorry to disappoint you, Ian, but I see nothing of the sort on my
system (ROM 03, not shift-booted, 5.125 MB RAM with 800k RAM5, System
6.0.1).
Everything seems to work fine. I fiddled with several windows, copied
a file, went back to ORCA, quit to Finder, etc.

Have you tried reinstalling 6.0.1?
