Apple //e -> MS-DOS emulator?

I am looking for a way to run Apple //e programs on an IBM PC 486
clone. I owned an Apple //e for several years before purchasing my
first IBM in 1988, and bought many programs and games for the Apple.
I only recently got net access, and only now saw the possibility of
an emulation program to transfer the programs to a MS-DOS system.

I tried using the apl2em.zip program by Randy Spurlock, which I found
in the simtel20 mirror on wuarchive.wustl.edu in the emulators
directory, but the program seemed to emulate only the Apple ][. Also,
the program required disk images, and I did not understand what was
meant by this.

Please email me (or post this info - others may be interested) on any
information you have on transferring Apple //e programs to an MS-DOS
system and running them on the MS-DOS system, or any info on where
I could look for this information. (I could find nothing substantive
elsewhere on Usenet). Thank you so very much.
