Disregard part of what I wrote above eariler. By setting a dip switch
(# 7 to 'down') and using "Null modem RTS/CTS" driver, I've been able to get
things working...or at least it appears that way for the moment. Still have two
slight problems that need answering however:

1) How can I sent up a _real_ 14.4k (USR Sporter) driver under PT 3.1? Does
InTrec offer any add-on module drivers for this modem? (My current setup
of using null-modem as a driver isn't the most elegant of solutions. On
top of that, it doesn't let me use the dialing-list, so I'm forced to press
CTRL-T and blindly type "ATxxx-xxxx" commands to connect with boards.
Also, I have to set parameters before calling (ie bps rate, emulation, etc)
which is annoying and isn't always reliable!

2) How can I test my GS/Mac modem cable to be sure it uses proper handshaking?
I'm currently using an expensive ($40) one I bought back in 1988, which I
think may be the older serial hand-shaking version. So far I haven't noticed
any loss of characters and downloading a binary file came through intact..
Does this mean it's the proper cable? If not, what type of problems should
   I expect to see if it's non-high speed/handshaking? (Note that I've only
tested it with downloading at 9600 baud -- University here doesn't seem to
   support 14.4k lines...sigh :/).

Please send any replies by mail if you can (thanks..)
