Hi.
I am volunteering for an organization which recently received several Apple
IIgs computers as a donation, which they are going to be giving to college
students for their use.
The computers came with no software except system 5.0. I have read the
FAQ and have determined that I need to get ahold of system 6.0.1 so that
they can read and write HFS Mac disks (which is important to me).
The problem is, I can't even get started because I can't get BINSCII up and
running. I don't have any comm software for the IIgs, but i have internet
access from both a Mac and a PC. I have downloaded the software I need,
and edited the files, but whenever i try to do EXEC BINSCII.EXE I get a
"file type mismatch", presumably because the file is of type $00. (I got
it onto a prodos disk by using the Prodos extension on my mac.)
the question is, how can I set the filetype of BINSCII.EXE to 'TXT' so that
EXEC will recognize it? I can't use the program suggested on the IIgs
because it's encoded! Is there any Mac (or PC) utility which can set
Prodos filetypes? Or does anyone have a better solution?
Thanks a lot.
