SCSI test software
I was also wondering if there are any programs available online that will
let me check my SCSI bus and devices. I'm having trouble with my new
tape drive and I'm not sure if it's software, the drive, or my SCSI
configuration. The details of my system are:
Apple DMA SCSI board <---> Wangtek ES5150 <---> Quantum 105Mb
(ID 7) tape drive (ID 4) hard drive (ID 6)
The hard drive is internally terminated and the tape drive is not.
Whenever a tape is inserted in the drive, things start getting weird,
like the hard drive not being recognized and the tape drive having a
lot of activity. Once I got through a backup using the GSTape demo,
but I couldn't read the tape created, then things broke again. Even
rebooting and doing a self test doesn't fix things. Even shutting off
*everything* and starting up again doesn't always work! The only
other info I can provide is that the GSTape "Environment" window
reports the tape drive's name correctly, but always gives its SCSI ID
as that of the hard drive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Mike
