Hello Apple ][ fans!
I'm a Computer Science & Engeneering student and an Apple ][c fan
since the begining of the ][c ages.
I'm also a frustrated user since I can't get any kind of support. The
reason: I live in a country (Chile) that doesn't even know the Apple ][
family (or a very bad memory!).
There's nowhere to find software (old or new), so I'm stucked with the
original System Software and a few old programs.
My Apple ][c is such a wonderful machine and it can perform almost
anything that I want (it was a very complete system when we purchased it
back in 1984: two disk drives, Composite Green monitor, joystick and
printer).
What I need is help to upgrade my system. That means that I need to
know where to find the new System Software (it's impossible for me to
buy it here or in the US, but I was told that it was free from Apple). Also
I would like to know if I can expand the memory of my ][c and how (again
it must be considered that I can't reach the right marketplaces so if
someone can give me the directions to build a memory expansion its OK
for me).
Also I need to know if I can atach it a hard drive. I've been planning
to do it for a long time, and I was thinking to do it via the serial port.
I know that it can also be done via the external disk port but the big
problem is that I don't have specific references to write the appropiate
drivers (so any help will be really apreciated).
I know that I'm asking too much in just one article, but I was
impressed by the light that this group has bringed to my old friend.
If someone wants to contact me, please feel free to do it. I don't
have any kind of problem to meet Apple fans. I must say that I don't
have problems to use the FTP facilities if someone can offer me information
in that way.
Thanks to everybody ho can help me, and please forgive my english
(my first language is spanish).
