Notes about Symbolix demo on ccosun
A few words about the Symbolix demo on ccosun.caltech.edu....
First, thanks a lot, David Ong Tat-Wee, for uploading the demo!!! (Thanks to a
very unfortunate "permutation" of modem protocols at my site and in my comm
programs, I couldn't do it myself...:/)
Before downloading the 17 chunks, make sure you have indeed 3MB (total) RAM in
your IIGS! It _might_ work with 2 MB, but then you have to disable as much as
possible. Furthermore, you need a HARD DISK or a high-density SuperDrive. The
demo does NOT fit onto one 3.5" disk.
Also recommended: color monitor, accelerator (why not...), a few minutes.
You need to disable the Sound CDev because it stops FTA's Tool219 (which is
also part of the demo.) I haven't tried setting "Whoosh open/closed" to "not
assigned" - eventually the Sound CDev doesn't kill the musix then.
Controls: you can pause the demo by holding down the mouse button. Upon
releasing it, the demo goes ahead regardless of how much time has elapsed
since. As a result, you can click the button to jump to the next "frame"
immediately.
Last note: the company that trademarked "Eureka" - I'm sorry. Now can anyone
tell me what name is NOT reserved / copyrighted / trademarked / owned /
possessed / wanted / pending / in work / lost ???
