I'm told that the current GS/OS SCSICD.DRIVER does not support music tracks on
an AppleCD 300 CD-ROM drive, and my attempts to do it appear to confirm that.
I have also found out, directly from Drew Vogan at CVT, that the RamFAST driver
doesn't (and won't) support music tracks on *any* CD-ROM drive. I expect I'll
sell the AppleCD 300 and maybe pick up an AppleCD 150 if someone can confirm
that the current SCSICD.DRIVER will play music tracks on it. Anyone care to
speculate on the likelihood that Apple will update the SCSICD.DRIVER to fully
support the AppleCD 300? Are technical specs available for the AppleCD 300 so
that someone else could write a IIgs driver for it? I can't tell for certain,
but it does seem to run at its faster speed on an Apple IIgs. I timed a couple
of Verify's from the GS/OS 6.0.1 Finder on "Phil & Dave's Excellent CD II".
The ProDOS partition ("XLNT.CD2", 17 MB) verified in less than a minute, and
the HFS partition ("Developer CD", 220 MB) verified in about 11.5 minutes. How
does this compare to other CD-ROM drives?
