We have a series of IIgs computers running GSOS 6.0 and are having some
rather serious problems with appleshare.
The file server is an i486 box running ESIX unix 5.4.0.4. CAP version 6
patchlevel 126 is the appletalk file server, communicating to localtalk
via Shiva Fastpath.
There are two problems.
Everything seems to work nicely after a boot. I can see the zones,
connect to the server, log in, connect to the remote volume, and transfer
data with no problem. HOWEVER, at some (seemingly random) time, usually
withing about 5 minutes, the IIgs announces: AUFS Server has shut down,
and disconnects the remove volumes. On the server side, I get "tickle
timeout" messages in the log file.
The other problem: I can't seem to get the resource fork information
across to the file server correctly. For example, I attempt to copy
appleworks to the server; everything copies correctly, but any
attempt to execute the result gives an "Application can't be found" error.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
