Yes, the case is the same size, and I'm pretty sure the shape is the
same (I haven't used one of these machines much).
The keys must be smaller, I suppose. I've never looked closely enough.
The motherboard was also re-engineered - it has a lot less circuitry,
but the ROM is the same as the one provided with the enhancement kit
for the original IIe.
One difference: I don't think an "international" version of the
Platinum IIe was ever made. The original IIe was produced in USA and
several International versions, the main visible diference being the
location of the auxiliary slot - next to the power supply in an
American IIe and in line with slot 3 (in the middle of the
motherboard) for an International IIe.
New Zealand and Australia had the English version of the original IIe
(which was made in Ireland), which had PAL video circuitry instead of
NTSC (and a slightly different clock speed to the American IIe).
