The file in question may have been created by an application, but was
not properly closed or removed when the application was finished. You
may want to consider a volume/disk repair utility such as
Salvation-Deliverance.
The alernative is to backup all files on the volume, except for the one
causing trouble. Then, re-initialize the volume and restore all of the
files.
