Usually its very quick. When installing for the fist time it does go through the motions a lot, but after that it should be somewhat transparent. The Xininx DL's are usually very good and very quick! (I get 24MHZ downloads with mine). I put the manuals up on the CB page if anyone needs them; http://www.applelogic.org/SettingUpCarteBlanche.html DS300 - DLC9 Platform Cable USB Datasheet and Specification DS593 - DLC10 Platform Cable USB II Datasheet and Specification UG344 - USB Cable Installation Guide
Thanks, Steve! You will save folks some hunting. A word of caution, however: their official "install_drivers" script may not work on anything other than one of their "officially" supported Linux distributions. It failed miserably on my box, but that may be due to the fact that I'm running the 32-bit version of ISE 10.1 on a 64-bit platform.
It turns out that most of the important pieces are found in the linux_drivers/pcusb subdirectory of their "install_drivers.tar.gz" package. I had to wedge them all in manually after ferreting out the details on line at various third-party sites.
There's also a requirement to build and install the userspace libusb-driver package - at least with ISE 10.1 or earlier. Prior to 11.1, I believe their official solution was to use a "windrvr" kernel module to communicate with the platform cable. Unfortunately, this component is very sensitive to code updates and was constantly getting broken when the user upgraded their kernel. The newer libusb based code runs as a userspace application.
