I would like to create a null-modem cable from my IIGS to my Compaq
386/25 to avoid tying up two modems and phones lines and boost the file
transfer throughput over 2400 baud. I have the 9-pin PC pin-out as well
as the RS-232 pin-outs. I cannot find the IIGS(/Mac) 8-pin DIN in any
of my books. Do any of you have the pin-out?
In one catalog I have, they mention three styles of null-modem cable
(Std/PC/IBM PC) that vary between what of DCD, DSR, RTS, CTS, and DTR are
connected to each other. In the Std case, RTS on one goes to CTS on the other
and DSR and DCD on one goes to DTR on the other. In the PC case, CTS, DSR,
and DCD on one go to DTR on the other. In the IBM PC case, RTS on one goes to
DCD on the other and CTS and DSR go to DTR on the other.
What would be the correct null-modem configuration to do hardware flow
control between the GS and the Compaq running SCO Unix 3.2.4v1?
Thanx in advance...
