Trackstar and Smeared Video

I have a Diamond Computer Sys.  Trackstar "E" which is an Apple II emulator
on an IBM (yuck!) card <Yes, I still prefer the stuff on the II :>.
My video is somewhat smeared.  Since I have VGA, I can't connect anything
to the video input connection.  I use the composite output connected to a 
very good Sony monitor.  However, all the letters on the screen are VERY
smeared like someone brushed wet ink.  Does this have to do with the fact
that I have an unloaded input?  Anyone have experience with the Trackstar?
Anyone know where I can get the real thing  cheap?  (I got this card @ a RS
clearance for $10!)  Please Email me your responses since I don't get a 
chance to hit NN very often.
