Mazer II and FTA book (was Re: GENIE KANSASFEST REPORT #1)

All that's known is a short paragraph from the GEnie registration stuff. I
believe all attendees were required to sign a non-disclosure form, though
that may have been only for those who actually got a copy of the software
to work with.
On a somewhat different note:
Resource Central had one (1) copy of the FTA book (Apple IIgs unpeeled or
words to that effect in French). We all went over to the Resource Central
offices to help them clear out some of their old stuff (like old Apple II
Pascal manuals, DOS 3.2 manuals (!), the original Integer BASIC book -- which
I picked up, complete with Tom Weishaar's peeks & pokes notes on the back),
which they were selling for a few $$$ each.
Well, a certain individual spotted this book sitting on the table. Apparently
the Resource Central guys didn't know what it was, and figured nobody would
be interested since it was all in French, so they were selling it for a
dollar. (Yes, US$1 .)
Guess who got it?
Burger Bill.
(There *really* ain't no justice!)
They also had a copy of "What's Where in the Apple II", a bunch of old Apple
manuals, some programs I hadn't heard of in ages, and generally lots of neat
stuff.
If you have a chance to see something called "Mazer II" from Big Red, drop
whatever you're doing and go see it. It's a full-blown 3D game that uses
fill mode to give you SOLID 3D shapes, and it's *fast*. This thing blew me
away. The more you know about doing 3D on the IIgs, the more amazed you'll
be. Burger Bill was also very impressed.
Looks like fun, too, though I'm going to buy it just for the graphics (they
weren't taking credit cards there, and I'd already blown $40 in cash on
Lost Treasures of Infocom for the IIgs).
BTW, LTOI-GS is pretty cool. It even has scrollback, and SAVES the
scrollback (about 8K worth) when you save your game.
