Moving files between systems...

My wife works with a person who needs to transfer some text files
from and Apple //e to an IBM PC.  No, we don't have access to 
Apple File Exchance or any other equipment of that sort.

Assets:

The Apple //e w/ 5-1/4" Drive
A Serial Card
A Parallel Card
An External Modem (via Serial Card)

What I am looking for is way to move the file through one of the cards
through either a cable or modem to the PC.  Tech diagrams for
do-it-yourself wires are acceptable as are hints on cheap or free
software.  No, we don't have a terminal emulator.  A cheap or free
one of them might be helpful as well...
