A programming language.
The name "LISP" is derived from LISt Processing.

The main features (among others) of Lisp are:
- functional programming: Every function/statement returns some value.
- lists are the most important data structures.
- unification of program code and data code. Both are lists. (Well, almost)
- an interpreter is the heart of a Lisp system. No compilation neccessary.
- no strong type checking.
