I have used bubble memory it slower than a floppy
it is large and has smalll memory capacity
Intel made some I hade a computer that used them;
4 packes each the size of a pack of cigaretts
and gave about 100K in memeory
the bubble memory works more like a disk then ram
it even has bad blocks
the memeory is made with a magnetic spot like a pice of vcr tape cut to 1/2 in
then some number of read/write heads are added at one end number of heads= bits wide
the memeory is.
then 4 coils are wound two 90 degrees from the last and then the whole thing
is placed in between two magnets
now if a bit is written this makes a magnetic bubble
by pulseing the coils the bubble can be moved
so by moving the bubbles the date can read or written to the magnetic spot
