Minor bug in HP CDev
I got a bug report today via WestCode from AOL... Guy Umbright reported that,
under certain circumstances, using the Folders display in the CDev can
cause a file to remain open on a disk.
As far as I can tell, this only happens on a newly inserted blank disk. If
the disk even has a Finder.Data on it the problem doesn't show up.
Basically, if you insert the new disk, go into the HP CDev's Folders display,
and then select that disk, the root directory is opened and never closed.
This prevents you from doing things like renaming the volume or removing it
from your desktop (it ejects, but the icon is grayed out instead of removed).
A work-around is to insert the disk, open it, and then close it, so that
a Finder.Data file gets created... once this is done, it ought to work fine.
(Ya know, the date on this bug report is 16-Jun-93, 13 days ago. If the
outgoing info is equally delayed, then could somebody with an AOL account
mention that I tried to repeat the GraphicWriter III v1.3 problem with v1.0
and it didn't hang. Also, the files are NOT being corrupted, since they can
be uncompressed from the Finder... there's something that GW III is doing
that causes it to not get along with HP, or vice-versa.)
