You're absolutely right. :-( It's off in the "compressing system files"
section. Nuts.

The boot stuff looks for an executable START program before HP loads. Since
HP isn't running, it looks like an LBR, not an S16. The best way to work
around this is to use the SetStart program, which is like 3 or 4 blocks
long. You need SetStart (S16), SetStart.data, and the SetStart CDev (which
is used to tell SetStart what to run, but after that you don't need it).
You can get these off the system 6.x disks or the HP install disk in the
system files folder ("Start", "SetStart", and "SetStart.data"). If you
just copy Start and SetStart.data into the System folder, it will try to
execute "Finder" on startup... so if you rename the platinum paint app
to "Finder" it ought to work.

I also got a report from GEnie... somebody got an "unable to load/unload
resource" error message. Something is Not Quite Right here. I would
recommend against using HCGS with HP until we figure out what's going on.
(We tested it with HCGS, honest!)
Possibly fatal easter egg: if you Open Apple-Option-click on the copyright
notice in the CDev, it SHOULD bring up the "Secret features" menu. Somebody
on GEnie reported that it locked up their machine and they had to power off.
I haven't looked at the code yet, but it sounds like there's either a bug
or a really weird conflict with somebody's INIT. Try it & see what happens.
