Hmmm.... I think you are refereing to my post of a couple months ago.  I 
requested this type of information, although I have an Imagwriter I, so I'm
not sure my solution will work for you but here goes.  My system is a 
Gateway 4DX2-66V, I used the original Imagewriter cable for the hookup, so
from the printer to the computer the link goes:

        Printer->original cable->Null modem->Gender Changer->PC.  

This is all going into the COM3 port.  In windows I chose the generic/Text 
only printer and assinged it to COM3.  Printing goes well in windows. when I
shell out to dos there is a problem, I reroute all LPT1 data to COM3 and this 
is where the problem occurs.  It appears that windows uses COM3 for the DOS 
shell so there is a conflict when I try to print while windows is still active
, but when it's not; no prob.

Items I bought:
 Radio Shack products.
 (1)  Serial Gender Changer female to female #26-1495   25 pin
 (1)  Null Modem Adapter    male to female   #26-1496   25 pin
      (I was informed that there was no male to male version of the Null Modem)

Be sure to check the connections and make sure that the genders will mate up
right if you by this setup.

Well, hope this helps, if the Imagewriter II uses a different cable then I'm
sure my setup won't work, but the basic idea is there.
