Re: What to Do with Two Apples?

Bruce (and ALL):

I wouldn't have believed it, but there may be a very signficant use
for an extra Apple or two. I recently attended a conference on
"Computers in Surgery" and the keynote speaker (an Army Colonel, chief
of surgery, etc) pointed out that today's young surgeons have developed
a new haptic ability. ("Haptic" refers to hand-eye coordination.) They
are able to look at a video monitor of the insides of a patient while
operating (mostly in laparoscopy, where the surgeon works thru a tube
stuck into your belly-button), and NOT look at their hands at the same
time. He attributes this skill to practice with VIDEO GAMES(!)

He further noted that us older guys need to work with a direct
image-motion paradigm, or one in which our eyes are pointed at where our
hands are. Kids who instinctively react with a button press to achieve a
left or right motion have developed a new set of manual skills.

So what to do with your old Apple? Get out the joysticks and keep
the games rolling! Could be a whole new career path in the making!

Now I'm looking at my kids and thinking: Super Mario today -- Super
Surgeons tomorrow? ;-)
