Using Apple II Monitor on a Mac

Since a secretary somehow forgot to include a monitor with her order
of a Mac Centris for my office, and the bureaucrats won't rectify the
error until the next fiscal year (even though there's still money left
over in the budget this year), I'm trying to find out if I can
connect my AppleColor RGB Monitor (now connected to my GS) to the
Centris.

Apple, and the dealers I've spoken to, have said no, but the Centris
guide lists an AppleColor High-Resolution RGB Monitor as useable (and
it seems foolish to have monitors with such similar names
incompatible), and the connectors are the same, so I'm hoping to hear
that somebody has done it and it works.  That would enable me to use
the Centris during June, when I really need it.
