TC>I know a //c can use a modem and dial up a Unix system, cause I watched
TC>someone do it. This person gave me a copy of the modem program he was
TC>using to see if it would work n my computer.
TC>
TC>the problem is, the computer steadfastly refuses to acknowledge that
TC>the disk is in the drive. I'm pretty sure that the disk is ok, so I'm
TC>wondering, is it that the computer is too old to recognize the program?
TC>If so, does that mean I am out of luck, or are there modems and
TC>programs
TC>that will run on a //c that old?
TC>
Can you tell me what kind of terminal program you are using?
Because certain program, like Proterm, need folders of specific
names to reside in the storage device (in your case, //c boot drive)
to run the program.
There are l lot of modems (any external ones will do, even the dual
standards) and programs (TIC, Proterm, ReadyLink . . .) available
for the //c.
P.S. You don't need a Mac Qurdra or a 486 50/50 to run terminal
programs. Once you're in the net its all the same.
