Question on using Apple //e as a dumb terminal: help

I would like info on using an Apple //e thta I have
recently come into possession of, as a dumb terminal.
It has an 80 column card, but no serial card.
I have a 2400 baud external hayes compatible modem.

Can some kind soul out there tell me:
* what does the serial card cost me and
where I can get one
* will the serial card with the external modem
work? What software should I have?
* Can the terminal so configured be used for
full screen editing?
