SCSI compatibility

Recently I have been looking for another disk to hang off of the SCSI chain
that is attached to my Apple IIgs (regular SCSI card), and a question occured
that I know you can answer. Can other types of SCSI devices be attaced to the
apple SCSI card? Could I use the (cheaper) IBM SCSI disk, if I supplied power
and wired the connector myself? Could I use this disk next to my SPARC station
as it has a 50-pin connector (not Centronics), and two ports for chaining. Can
the IBM's be chained? Anybody care to offer pinouts for IBM disks? For Sun
disks? Conversion cable suppliers? And what about Scarecrow`s brain? Cya!
