Modem/Kermit for IIC?

Disclaimer: I'm an Apple-clueless PC user

One of our sales reps has an Apple IIC and wants to hook up
with a commercial net-connected Unix system so he can read
news, use e-mail, and upload/download files. I do not see
any explicit note in the FAQ (of 5 May) that he can install 
a modem on his IIC (IIe and GS only are mentioned, I think).

Is there a modem (or modem card) and terminal emulation
package that will work with the IIC?
